Welcome to the Clay.io API documentation. The links to the left will be your biggest help in getting your game on the Clay.io platform, as well as optionally integrating the Clay.io API.
With our marketplace, we not only want to provide more cross-platform distribution for your games through our own marketplace, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to distribute your game to other platforms.
We want to take the tedious tasks of game development, and make them into something you can do with a few lines of code. To get a feel for the features we offer, just look under the API category to the left!
You are not restricted to hosting the game on Clay.io in order to use the API. The API will work wherever you'd like to put your game!
Our Business Model
What do we get for providing these tools? We follow the typical model for marketplaces (Steam, iOS, etc) and take a cut of any revenue your game generates through us. Any purchases of your game that take place in the Clay.io store, and any in-game purchases using the Clay.io payment processing API will have 20% taken from it (you don't have to worry about the payment processor fees, that's all included in the 20%). If your game is completely free, you don't have to worry about any costs at all!
Status of the API
Our API is launched, fully functional and production-ready. For your benefit, we will constantly be updating and improving the API to maximize its functionality.
The Sandbox is a great way to get familiar with the API, and test out code changes immediately!
